Purchased this Mill because of the three selection grinding action. It works well and having a choice of fine, medium or coarse is excellent. It is easy to switch between the three choices of fine, medium and coarse. It looks good and works great. The area at the bottom of the mill allows you to see the peppercorns before you run out. I have had it for about a month and use it almost every day. I am very happy with the purchase and would recommend this product.

This pepper mill really works! I had two other brands before and it was always a headache to get some fine pepper... With this one it's easy and well done. And it's beautiful too. I was worried if this item would be too tall to put on a table, but it's not! Great buy.

Best Deals for William Bounds HM Proview Pepper Mill

This worked beautifully when it was new. Not frequently used over about 1 1/2 years I have trouble moving the setting to coarse. It looks like the leaning tower of Pisa because at the plastic segment, the upper metal part now leans toward one side. I originally recommended that this item not be bought particularly in light of the price. However, I just learned that the manufacturer William Bounds offers a lifetime warranty on their mills. They promise to repair or replace at no charge other than shipping. This seems quite fair and I may change rating once I see how that works out. It's nice to know some companies still stand behind their products AND that they're made in the USA.

I am a huge fan of America's Test Kitchen and bought this based on their reviews. I personally like the filler window (though mine cracked for some odd reason still works fine) and appreciate a stainless version. I can't find many plastic parts (if any) and expect it to last a long time. I bought my mom a wooden one years ago and she swears by it.

Added in response to a comment asking for my personal experience:

I own two of these (I have two kitchens), and yes, it has fully met my expectations. It took a bit of getting used to, because one small twist grinds enough to season a dish; you don't want to go around and around with this one the way you do with most pepper grinders unless you're trying to grind a tsp. or so.
