This salt grinder worked just a few times and now will not grind anything -it came filled with salt and 3/4 of that salt is still in the unit so it is apparent it has hardly been used before it ceased to work. I am doubly unhappy because I ordered both the salt and pepper grinders to have a matching set. Now I'm stuck with the pepper mill as it can't even be returned and no salt grinder to match.

I've used an oak pepper mill with salt shaker for more years than I care to admit. As a chef, I prefer freshly ground pepper and tend to enjoy using a five peppercorn blend which is attractively displayed in acrylic. Since I bought the peppermill, I decided to purchase the salt mill as well.

The William Bounds acrylic salt mill, like the peppermill, grinds course bits of salt with the crank of the handle. The grind can be adjusted between fine, medium, and course, and compliments the attractive peppermill. Ceramic grinders are designed to never rust or wear out.

Using a traditional shape with contemporary materials creates a pleasing modern appearance. Refilling, adjusting the grind, and milling salt are all accomplished from the top of the mill and are simple to achieve. The salt mill grinds salt so well, it seems difficult to control the amount of salt produced. This can be a problem when adding salt to a single serving of food at the table, but not as much while cooking a meal in the kitchen. We generally don't use salt and pepper shakers at the table, so the salt mill hasn't been a problem for us.

Visually this salt mill has a modern feel and is made in the US from high quality materials. If being careful with salt intake is important for you, this may not be the best option. Otherwise, the William Bounds salt mill is worthy of consideration.

This is a great product! Received a salt and pepper set as a wedding gift 4 years ago and we have no complaints....they've actually received many compliments! The grinding action is sturdy, the hand feel is proportionally balanced and easy to operate. Easy to cook with and looks great when dressing the table. The only note is that some residual grounds are left behind in a tiny pile whenever they are picked up so we store ours in a flat little dish on the counter top. This 'leave behind' seems to be common with all grinders and is really not a problem at all.

My W Bounds salt cellar bought AGES ago on amazon was proving a challenge to wash and fill so I sent it back to the company in CA and they called saying it couldn't be repaired and they would replace it. I just received the new salt mill and felt I should take a minute to tell Amazon customers about this great customer service. So often we are told things have a warranty or a life time protection and then when something goes wrong ah, the warranty doesn't cover that particular part of the product or the lifetime warranty doesn't cover damage caused by such-and-such an event (not your own doing). I begin to smile when I see 'life time guaranty' as I feel it's worthless. The product is attractive, does the job perfectly and it ever fails to satisfy, the company will make it right There's no reason to shop anywhere else!

This is a useful, hardworking little salt mill. It puts out a fair amount of salt, so it is useful for cooking. It seems to be built pretty tough and looks like it will last a long time. It is a good match for the William Bounds pepper mill.
