chest arrived defective; after writing to the "Nancy's" company,they responded that the chest would be replaced..with no indication as to how or when. I responded that if they sent me a return label, I would return the chest through UPS...never heard from them again.

For several reasons, the quality on this box was certainly not what I expected. On first inspection, the "Wallace Silversmiths" logo underneath is crudely spray painted in white paint, which makes it look like a knock off. Next I put the drawer in and was disappointed how it wiggles from left to right, kind of like a cheap jewelry box. Online, the box looks very rich and stately, but it is made of 100% fiberboard. Wow. Every single piece feels fake and it does not have a real wood grain or appearance, and the "plush" lining feels like it came out of a $20 jewelry box. The worst part is that the lining does not appear to be of the tarnish preventing variety. With that said, some people do like that kind of furniture, so they may be pleased with the finish up close. Personally, I like antiques and this looks cheap and out of place in my dining room. In a store I doubt that it would sell for over $35, and that is being generous. It will be holding the silver in a dark closet. If it weren't a gift, I'd return it.

Gets the job done as a flatware chest, assuming that all you're looking for is a box to put them in. Some marks on the outside of it, and not exactly assembled with caution. Wouldn't buy anything else from them.

The Wallace Dark Walnut Single Drawer Chest w/Feet is attractive. It's easy to move from place to place by sliding because the feet have less contact friction than if the entire chest was setting upon a table. The interior is very well-constructed and attractive. The one glaring thing that floored me was that the two knobs for the drawer were loose within the exterior wrapping. It would have been so easy to throw them out! Here's the BIG problem: You need to screw the knobs onto screws that are in the holes on the drawer. The screws move backward into their holes and you cannot screw the knobs on. In addition, those screws are in holes which are covered by the interior lining which is HEAVILY GLUED onto the front wooden panel of the chest's interior. I tried everything except standing on my head and whistling Dixie! Finally I removed the front interior lining, pressed a pen into the hole and the back of the screw, and somehow managed to screw the knob onto the front. WOW! There's got to be a better way, folks at Wallace! Had I known just how difficult this task was going to be I would have selected a different chest from a different company. I think I'm now ready to try out for the 2016 olympics as a gymnast!
