This device works great. Simple and straight forward to install.I used the white plumber tape on the threads to prevent

any leaks. We have had it for several months ..I've checked the filter and it is collecting the fine

dirt incoming from the well that had nearly burned up the washer before we realized we had a problem.

I'm on a well and we have a lot of sediment in our water. So much sediment that we have to remove the factory installed screen on our clothes washer twice each time we wash a load of clothes. This is essentially a larger screen (trap), but more accessible and with a fibrous material included (filter). It might be a bit too restrictive for my needs. I like the product, and it's built well (solid and simple, PVC, easily disassembled/reassembled), but I'm not convinced it's any better than a pressure washer inline filter (green cap), and those have a more accessible filter if, like me, you need to remove it often.

I'll update as I use it if I'm able to edit this review.

The item itself is greatIt is a pain in the butt to have to unhook the hose and screen and try to clean it outso we bought the above product. It worked nice (we have well water), and when flow would get restricted we would just change the filter.

The problem was that hooking a metal hose onto a plastic piece is difficult to do multiple times. the plastic piece got cross threaded, and eventually became garbage.

I see why others have complained that the filter clogs. I had two attached to my washer hoses for a week; had to remove them briefly; and noticed one of them had collected a significant amount of ... some might call it silt, but I'd call them pebbles.

And we're on city water.

So, I guess this isn't a set-it-and-forget-it item, but that's OK. I don't mind having to check on it if it's keeping that junk out of my washer, and away from my clothes.

Im on well water and this product might be ok if you are also using a whole house water filter, which im not. I do have one on order since this clogs up just as often as the inlet on my washer.I will update if this fixes my problem.

Update.....i now have the whole house filter installed and problem solved. i should have gotten the whole house filter first and i dont think i would have needed this.
