This is an amendment to my prior review of this product. I so liked my last set of cotton tea towels that I ordered another set. This set is nothing like the last set. Most notably, it has no strip sewn across a corner allowing you to hang the towel from a hook. The towels are entirely different from my last set. The size is the same and they are 100% cotton, but that is about it. They don't seem to have the same thread count. Still, they seem to work fine. My issue is you can't count on what you will get from this company. They obviously lack product consistency. They probably use multiple suppliers for the same product not a good business model. I expected to get exactly the same product that I ordered last time, but I didn't. For that reason, I will have to down-grade my review by one star (from 4 to 3).

I wish I had been purchasing these for my kitchen all along. It is sometimes harder to find the towels in this smaller size. Good, heavy duty material, perfect for my embroidery projects. Did not shrink when I washed them and there was just a minute amount of very fine pilling here and there that will probably come out in later washings. Doesn't effect the quality of the towel at all. I have been looking for these since I found some at Wal-Mart, but couldn't find em later when I needed a fresh batch. You won't know how you ever did without these. For all kinds of jobs, all kinds of people...in the kitchen, outside, in the car, wherever you can imagine a need for a wipe or towel. Hubby found them, and I think he's the one that ran off with my original batch...great for just out in the yard working sweat wipes!! I plan to buy everyone their own dozen for Christmas, just so they will leave mine alone. My old Williams-Sonoma towels were biting the dust, so I was looking for an economical replacement since our household seems to go through kitchen towels at a steady clip. I decided to give these a whirl.Love the size, and I do love white towels. Also love that they are 100 percent cotton. Others have complained in previous reviews about pilling and lint, despite them being described as "lint free." Well, all cotton has some lint to it that you can't get around, and you need to be prepared for that.
When I opened up the package, some of the towels did seem to have some pilling on them. Brushing them with my fingers showed me that this was not pilling, but rather a gathering of lint on the towels themselves. I overlooked it, as I have the attitude that as long as a towel performs what it's intended to do (absorb water efficiently, dry nicely and wash well), then I'm not going to go on a rant.
The dozen pack came in a nicely sealed plastic envelope that you can extract the amount of towels you want to use and save the rest for later. I pulled out six towels and decided to sew some ribbon trimming around the edges to embellish them a bit (in order, really, to distinguish and separate them from my rags!). Placing a variety of different ribbon around the edges was actually quite easy, but the sewing part became a bit more of a challenge -and I knew what was going on as soon as I hit the snags. Any time you sew on ANYTHING that is of this construction (any kind of towel, including high-grade bath towels), lint will occur and build up in your sewing machine and BAM! I experienced 2 broken needles while embellishing 6 of these towels due to lint build-up underneath and in the bobbin case (I have a Bernina machine). So, if you are looking to sew with these towels, be aware.
On the practical side, they are exactly as they are stated: they are huge (and I mean HUGE), soak up water well and dry quickly. No gripes there whatsoever. NONE.
So, in conclusion, these are great kitchen towels for every-day use, as they serve the purpose that they were intended -get the job done. Wash well, dry well, and back out on the counter or towel rack you go! With a family coming in and out and washing their hands constantly, it seems that we're using towels constantly -and these are perfect since they dry quickly, and if they're not dry in time, no problem! I've got a stack more to pull out that are dry! My old Williams-Sonoma towels would take literally hours to dry, while these do not. NICE. But, those people who do want to embellish them a bit with some sewing creativity, know that there is some lint that will show up -and if you don't like lint, frankly, don't buy 100% cotton. It comes with the territory!
