It is just as tiny and the cloth filter is the same. Not much more to say. I just thought it might be nice to have on hand for brewing a second cup or in case something happens to the first piece.

These reusable filters keep the grounds out of your coffee while allowing the tasty oils to pass through. Even better, your coffee will not taste like paper. Even after using unbleached, organic, acid free, fair trade, vegan, filters and washing it with boiling water before using it to filter coffee, the disgusting paper taste and smell remains. This filter doesn't have that problem.Find helpful customer reviews and review ratings for Hario Replacement Cloth Coffee Filter with Wood Handle DFN-3 DPW-3
I'm a coffee professional who uses about 7 different manual brewing devices at home. I bought this cloth filter with high expectations, and I will say that it makes a decent cup of coffee-when its new. Having to store the wet filter in the fridge makes it susceptible to mold, and susceptible to nasty fridge flavors. The onlyWay I can see it producing consistent results is if you used it every day (thus disrupting those negative aspects) and/or you take the time to boil the filter before each use (pouring copious amounts of hot water through it won't even pull those flavors out). Overall, there are many other coffee brewing devices that are more worthwhile in my opinion, and have fewer drawbacks. I would suggest using an aeropress (which offers great versitity, the options of paper and metal filters, easy brewing, consistent results, and effortless cleaning). If you're looking for something even easier than the aeropress, buy a Clever dripper. If you're really itching to brew pour over, the Chemex brewer is also a really great option, although it has a steeper learning curve.
