Review of Regency Heavy Weight Professional Chef Grade Cheesecloth , 60 Yards
I love how much you get and it's just the right size for my project, but the weave is not tight on this. I would say this is close to a #40 for those familiar with cheesecloth weave grading. I hope that helps someone else looking at buying this.I'm not sure that the cheesecloth deserves as low a rating as 3 stars but since it was called "heavy weight", I thought it would be heavy weight. The weave appears to be normal cheesecloth weight and is fairly open. Since I wanted to use it to sew into giant "tea bags" to make compost tea for my organic gardening, I needed heavy weight. I ended up quadrupling the fabric so there were four layers of cheesecloth between the compost/worm casting mixture and the water in my aerated tub. That worked but the cheesecloth will not last long at that rate. The fabric tore when I removed the compost mixture to place it back in my compost pile rendering it useless for a second "brewing". I should have used muslin, a finer weave and sturdier fabric. I'm sure the cheesecloth would be fine for it's intended purpose cheese!
